CYANOTYPE

The Blue Archive Project
Cyanotype is an early photographic printing process developed in the nineteenth century that produces images in characteristic shades of Prussian blue. The technique relies on the exposure of light-sensitive chemicals to ultraviolet light, resulting in a direct and experimental form of image making. My interest in cyanotype is closely connected to my background in printmaking, as both practices involve processes of surface preparation, exposure, and the transformation of images through material interaction.
Through this project, I explored the potential of cyanotype as an extension of my printmaking practice. I also reflected my interest in portrait art, using the medium to investigate how human presence and identity can be represented through this alternative photographic process. In addition, I translated memories from my travels into visual form, allowing personal experiences and impressions of different places to become part of the work. By combining portraiture, travel memories, and printmaking sensibilities, the project examines how memory, place, and identity can intersect within a single artistic practice.
