MELTEM KARAKUYU
Contemporary artist based in
the Netherlands
My paintings explore the dialogue between the human figure, natural forms, and emotional landscapes. Using expressive line, layered textures, and subtle color, I create contemplative spaces where portraiture and nature coexist. Organic motifs, such as leaves, gardens, and imagined environments, merge with the body to examine identity, vulnerability, and introspection. Inspired by John Everett Millais and Henri Rousseau, I reinterpret nature through a contemporary lens, merging figurative representation and stylized plant forms to explore human presence, natural environments, and evolving modern structures. Through these works, I invite viewers to pause and reflect on the interplay between inner experience and the surrounding world, fostering moments of quiet connection and transformation.
